Client: City of Ely, Nevada
Solution: Jet Aeration/Mixing System
Background:
The City of Ely, Nevada has a population of around 4,300 and is in White Pine County of Nevada. The city runs a 1.5 MGD activated sludge wastewater treatment process. The City of Ely had a failing aeration system in their aerobic sludge holding tank that had continued mechanical issues and could not keep the tank contents aerobic. The city installed a Fluidyne Jet Aeration/Mixing system in May 2012 to solve their mixing and aeration needs.
Fluidyne’s Jet Aeration/Mixing System consists of a single jet aeration manifold running the diameter of the tank with eight (8) 2JA jet mixing/aeration nozzles. A built in back-flush allows cleaning the manifold without draining or dewatering the tank. The jet header is driven by a 15 horsepower dry pit jet pump and a 15 horsepower positive displacement blower. Immediately upon start-up, the operating staff noticed a huge difference in odor compared to the old system. With the Fluidyne system, not only has the odor outdoors gone away, the odor in the control room is also gone. This has made for a more pleasant working environment for the employees. The City is completely satisfied with the Fluidyne Jet Aeration System.
